BRAIN DEAD IN THE BURBS AND COOKING YOUR WAY BACK TO SANITY

Come by Vintage Vinyl and meet St. Louis’ new talked-about author Laura Edwards Ray (and wife of Vintage Vinyl owner Tom ‘Papa’ Ray!) as she shares recipes, stories and modern mother-wit in the 21st Century taken from her first book, entitled BRAIN DEAD IN THE BURBS, AND COOKING YOUR WAY TO SANITY (As seen in local book chains, amazon.com, and seen in the hands of a growing number of St. Louis Women). The humor is self-depreciating, the stories are hilarious and affecting, and the recipes are easy, practical, but deeply appreciated by all whom are lucky enough to sample the results. We’re predicting Ms. Edwards Ray is our new Millennium’s answer to Erma Bombeck, and we have been told she will be bringing a few dishes for your taste-buds this Sunday, 3PM, at Vintage Vinyl, 6610 Delmar Blvd., University City, MO

My first review!
OK you all know that I read all the time.. no duh. Well last night I found myself reading until 1:30 am. and laughing out loud. If you’re looking for a fun book to read pick up Brain Dead in the Burbs and Cooking Your Way Back to Sanity by Laura Roodman Edwards Roodman Edwards Roodman Ray (aka Laura Ray). I must admit in full disclosure (the attorney in me comes out at the oddest times) that Laura is a good friend of mine. That being said it’s still a super fun read! If you think crazy stuff happens to you- just wait until you “meet’ Laura and hear about her life! You’ll be laughing out loud and feeling like you have a new BFF. The recipes are wonderful too! (I’ve had about 1/2 of them– YUM) I was lucky enough to have a freshly minted copy of the book handed delivered by the author herself but the book will be available in Borders and Barnes and Noble in the next few days. If you can’t face hitting another store (or if you are like me and it’s a true danger zone to enter a bookstore) you can go to her website (yup named just like book) and order a copy. (And no I don’t get a cut… !) This is the perfect book for any gal who needs a pick-me-up and would make a fun holiday gift!
I will be speaking (and handing out recipes from my book) at The 4th annual Author Shout Out! Saturday, March 12, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
The event will be at the Schlafly Branch Library in the Lashley Auditorium located at 225 N. Euclid (at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Lindell Boulevard.).
